CYT San Diego winners of the 10News.com A-List Best Theater Award.

Christian Youth Theater

Seussical

CCT/CYT is dedicated to developing character in children and adults through training in the arts and by producing wholesome family entertainment, all of which reflect Judeo-Christian values. Christian Youth Theater (CYT) is an after-school theater arts training program for students ages
4 - 18. Since its founding in 1981 in San Diego California, CYT has grown to be the largest youth theater in the nation. There are affiliates across the country training thousands of students a year. CYT is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational organization funded primarily through its tuition, ticket sales and outside contributions. Because CYT does not own facilities for classes or productions, the organization works through the local community, utilizing classrooms and stages in churches, schools and local theaters. CYT is not affiliated with a church body, and people of all faiths are welcome. CYT stands in the forefront in its commitment to the highest ethical, moral, technical and artistic standards of excellence. Instructors are professionals, qualified in teaching and/or performing, who must understand our mission statement, values, objectives and goals. All CYT staff strive to be excellent role models. Every session (fall, winter and spring) CYT offers theater arts classes for children as an after-school activity. Each local program conducts three ten-week sessions throughout the school year, teaching drama, voice, dance and a broad spectrum of specialty theatrical workshops at weekly two-hour classes. Enrolled students have the opportunity to work behind the scenes, or audition and perform on stage in a Broadway-style musical performed for the community. Additional performance opportunities are available to CYT students who may participate in CYT Tour Groups performing musical reviews for community and civic functions. Internships, director training, teacher aiding, and being an inclusion aide are other ways for older students to gain additional training and experience. College credit is available for the director internship program through a local accredited college.... <>

Pinocchio is perhaps one of the best known and best loved of all fairy tales. Granted, people may not remember the name, or even the whole story, but almost everyone has heard the story of the boy whose nose grew when he lied. In this Roger’s and Hammerstein classic, Cinderella dreams of attending the Prince’s ball, but her evil stepsisters find a way of keeping her from going. Her dreams come true when her Fairy Godmother gives Cinderella a complete makeover, and sends her off to the ball in style. Performance dates for Cinderella are May 1, 2, 8 & 9 @ 7:00pm and May 3, 9 & 10 @ 2:00pm at the East County Performing Arts Center, 210 E. Main St, El Cajon 92020.

San Diego – Christian Youth Theater (CYT) is thrilled to announce its production of Tom Sawyer, Mark Twain’s first novel published in 1876. Incorrigible American boys are certainly nothing new. Mark Twain captured some of the excitement of boys running wild and free at a time in American history when the pranks were more innocent and running away could be a great, harmless adventure. This classic story of youth is full of adventure, suspense and excitement. Join Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn and Becky Thatcher during a time of innocence in American history as they explore their hopes and dreams along the celebrated Mississippi River. Performance dates for Tom Sawyer are May 15, 22 & 23 at 7:00pm and May 16, 17 & 23 at 2:00pm at Pacific Beach Middle School, 4676 Ingraham, San Diego 92109.

Performance dates for Snoopy!!! are May 30 & June 6 @ 7:00pm and May 30, 31, June 6 & 7 at 2:00pm at the historic Star Theater, 402 N, Coast Highway, Oceanside 92054.

Chula Vista - CYT will present the musical Charlotte’s Web. Based on the popular book by E.B. White, Charlotte’s Web tells the story of Wilbur, the smallest pig of the litter, and how he grows up in the barnyard. Loved by Fern, who begs her father to let her raise the baby pig, Wilbur finds his best friend living in a spider web. Fallbrook - Christian Youth Theater (CYT) students will present a musical adaptation of the timeless classic story of Pinocchio. The Italian author, Carlo Collodi, wrote the story of Pinocchio in the 1870s. It appeared first as a serial in 1881, then in book form in 1883. Pinocchio is perhaps one of the best known and best loved of all fairy tales. Granted, people may not remember the name, or even the whole story, but almost everyone has heard the story of the boy whose nose grew when he lied. Pinocchio is also a song of praise to parents everywhere; Geppetto illustrates the ideal parent – loving, patient, and forgiving, not giving up and willing to give one more chance. Pinocchio finally learns to be brave, truthful and honest. Performance dates for Pinocchio are May 28 & 29 at 7:00pm and May 30 at 1:00pm, 4:00pm, and 7:00pm at the Bob Burton Center, May 28 - 30.

El Cajon - Christian Youth Theater (CYT) students will present the musical Cinderella, the magical and romantic story of a young girl living under the strict rule of her stepmother and two spoiled stepsisters. It’s the magic of Cinderella’s charm, however, that captures the Prince’s heart, sending him searching all throughout the kingdom for the mysterious beauty.

Based on the world-renowned “Peanuts” comic strip, Snoopy!!! Deserves each of its three exclamation points and will entertain audiences with the quiet knowledge and wit of its characters.

Charlotte, the spider, teaches Wilbur about life and he learns about the world from the other animals in the barn. Wilbur grows to be a famous pig, thanks to a few web-based miracles crafted by Charlotte, who sacrifices much to help the pig.
